Samsung BD-P1590 1080p Blu-Ray Disc Player Review
I purchased this refurbished from a place it could be returned. So far I have watched one BD movie (Star Trek) which played fine and streamed Netflix and Pandora (both are fine). Haven't even tried a dvd yet. First impressions: set up was fairly easy, player looks nice, very sleek. Network connected with no problems (dhcp). I'm not sure which version of firmware I have, but it is not current because it asks me to update (I have not done this!). For less than 100 clams, I am satisfied so far. Will keep testing. Had one problem with audio, which I think is my reciever rather than player. One or more channels of audio drop out intermittently in downmixed DTS mode and in Dolby PL II (PCM) mode (which has happened to me on playback sometimes with PL II from other sources). Problem solved by switching player audio output to bitstream (over optical cable). Now I have the native audio from the disk, but no secondary or effects audio :-( Not sure what this will mean in the long run. I hope this player will hold up, I love the netflix streaming because I am no longer using just my laptop screen!
